Global Finalist

Spatial Analysis and Time Series

The EO Dashboard has multiple global maps for air quality and greenhouse gases in GeoTIFF file format. Your challenge is to create a spatial analysis and time series plotting tool for EO Dashboard air quality and greenhouse gas GeoTIFF datasets.

Enigma Systems Dashboard

Summary

We picked the challenge of air quality in spatial analysis and time series for our hackathon. The main determination of our team is to make an EO dashboard which can build a spatial and time series plotting tool for greenhouse gas GeoTIFF and air quality datasets. Our work started with conducting different skill members of our team. Furthermore, we put our head together to make an efficient and easy use of the tool. The prominent members of our group started to work to software development to make an efficient use of our tool to get the result for the different region. Our team members made a sophisticated design which is easy to use and exceptionally easy to work with.

How I Addressed This Challenge

Our dashboard Enigma Systems Dashboard is a user friendly one. It will show CO2 NO2 emission by County in map and CO2 NO2 are distributed region wise so that it can be found when needed. On right total amount is shown along with the region code and in the bottom a graph is added where we can search region name with date for better understanding.

How I Developed This Project

The challenges we had while making the dashboard were-

•To modify the plot axis minimum and maximum values (for both the X [time] axis and Y [C02 and NO2] axis).

•To hide/show plot specific plot variables.

•To download the calculated statistics as a comma separated value (.csv) file.

•To change the color and symbol for the variables.

•To plot two datasets on the same time series plot (e.g., both MEAN CO2 and DIFFERENCE CO2 for the same area of interest) or plot C)2 and NO2 on the same time series plot.

Our aim was to confront these challenges and to collect data of the amount of CO2 and NO2 present in the air to determine the air quality. After fulfilling all the criteria, we collected data from different countries to show the actual situation of CO2 & NO2. We found the total emission of CO2 and NO2 by the countries. Here, we use 2 data sets to make our calculation more accurate. We checked the data redundancy and eliminated the duplicate and null data from these. Furthermore, we created a separate new table aligning all the datasheets. In the map, to plot the total emission done by the countries, total emission of CO2 and NO2 along with lowest emission of CO2 and NO2 were inserted according to the regional codes. In the graph, X-axis represents time series and Y-axis represents CO2 and NO2 emission. So, if you notice the given chart, you can easily find out the amount of CO2 and NO2 emission done by the countries. However, the countries are paged within the time series according to their regional code. In the map, you will find dots which stands for NO2 and CO2 emission, respectively. It is done using their mean values. Besides, you can hide the circles based on the regions. For this, you have to click on the region & choose the option to hide the circle.

How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We look upon the Space agency data to understand the comparison Between different region air quality and green house gases. It really helps us to give a vast knowledge about how we are going to use the data.

Earth Observing Dashboard Integration

Our documentation can be included by embedding our code which is in GitHub. This one is easy on management and customization along with help to load fast.
