Storytelling in the COVID-19 Era

The longer human activities are changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the more visible, wider, and longer lasting the scope of environmental impacts may be. Your challenge is to tell a visual story about the impacts of the pandemic using Earth observation data and other complementary information.

Israel uncovered: COVID-19 Era

Summary

The Israel uncovered project is a thirty-second report on how the country won over COVID-19. We were amazed at how Israel handled their vaccinations and how their government handled the pandemic. When we first saw the Israel-Palestine war we were all shocked at the devastation and asked; "What about the COVID-19 virus?". We thought that they ignored COVID-19 entirely for their war but we were wrong as this project shows how they almost win over the COVID-19 pandemic.

How I Addressed This Challenge

We developed a series of chartered events on Israel's vaccination on the COVID-19 virus. It is important to know how a country almost won over a pandemic, throwing the success out its window in favor of conflict. This is for future purposes when a global pandemic might arise; the people can look back on what we did during these dire times. Our objective is to let future leaders know that they should copy Israel's vaccination policy but not its wars.

How I Developed This Project

We are storytellers and filmmakers, that's what made us choose this challenge. We developed a story that we can tell visually in under 30 seconds in the pre-production stages. The software we used is Adobe Premiere pro, and OBS studio. The problems we faced were in the pre-production stages on how we can tell a story in under 30 seconds, also the fact-checking of data from news articles and its videos.

How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used the EO Dashboard's vaccination data and dove deeper inside ourworldindata.org where the data is from. We also checked into the governments' policy data as it rendered it useful; to know how they handled their vaccinations. The influence of our project is the handled vaccine policy of Israel and its war during the pandemic.

Earth Observing Dashboard Integration

The only possible integration of this project is to make it an article in the third window or data view window on the EO dashboard as an article inside the vaccination button when it is clicked by a user. Also, we would like to recommend inserting the government vaccination policy data on the selected country for a more in-depth analysis which you can do by calling its embed link (iframe) to the EO Dashboard.
