Why is it important?
The importance of taking action on climate change has been expressed for almost 50 years, however, society looks indifferent in taking real action that allows reducing the catastrophic effect that is seen to come. We are the first generation that has a clear conception of the value of nature but we do not consider that we could be the last generation to have the opportunity to act to avoid irreparable damage[3].
After experiencing as young people for more than a year the uncertainty that the pandemic brought us, it made us reflect on logical responses to an unprecedented global crisis. This makes us wonder, what will the future look like? Have we adapted to living with this virus? Will science allow us to reverse the chaos we have?
We understand that historically pandemics have occurred at different times in highly populated areas, drastically affecting the human species, but does this have any relation to natural phenomena that have been altered by the impact of man? Could this pandemic be a natural control mechanism to guarantee the survival of the planet? What are we not seeing that could be more critical than a pandemic? Faced with the search for answers, science shows us with data, clarity of how our great home is crumbling at an accelerated rate, and we still do not have the measures and actions that allow us to urgently respond to the SOS call of nature.
What does it do?
The main object of this project is to share the Earth Observing Dashboard tool and data with the global community, through video
and infographics, making it clear that an improvement is not possible without constant monitoring. We seek to create a message of impact, which allows us to communicate and generate awareness in people but above all to question whether the rhythm of life that we lead as human beings will allow us to preserve life on the planet in the coming years.
As Global Proposal:
We must try to focus a real collective effort towards the objectives of climate change.
In June 2021 Legal experts defined and put forward a new proposed category of international crime - ‘ecocide.’ If taken up by Parties to the International Criminal Court (ICC), it would become the fifth category of offenses to be prosecuted under the court [7]. But how can we effectively achieve an ecological conscience? Why not consider legislating the way the message is conveyed by calling for immediate action to curb climate change? If only we could consider proposing that all public entertainment content seeks to give a careful approach to the environment, perhaps we could be able to educate and raise awareness of the next generations. What would happen if the authorities required that all commercials, Netflix movies, Amazon prime series, social networks, children's cartoons, etc. constantly have the warning message about climate change and a call to immediate action? At least perhaps through neuro-linguistic programming, and good storytelling in entertainment content, a significant awareness of the habits that we can seriously execute as citizens can be achieved immediately.
