Storytelling in the COVID-19 Era

The longer human activities are changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the more visible, wider, and longer lasting the scope of environmental impacts may be. Your challenge is to tell a visual story about the impacts of the pandemic using Earth observation data and other complementary information.

THE 4 PERSPECTIVES

Summary

Our story shows 4 perspective  of  the corona lockdown. Our story has 4 characters , everyone has a different perspective towards corona lockdown.First one is Satish ,he used corona in a positive way and started his own company. Second is Raghav he is son of satish and a nature lover and he liked corona coz during corona nature repaired itself.Third one is Digvijay he had a  transport business but could not survive the lockdownb and gave up.Fourth one is Sarika, she was a maid at satish's home and was amigrant labour , she faced many problems but didn't give up and got a better life in the end. Our story focuses on the positive side of corona as well instead of the just negative side.

How I Addressed This Challenge

we have developed a story which shows the overall impact on human life instead of the only negatve side which mostly people saw. our story shows the overall impact of covid which is necessary to understand impact of corona on human life therefore stoies which show a overall impact are importnat for understanding corona. our story shows the hidden good in the lockdown and tries to tell future planning for such virus. it works on the principal of 360 degree view of corona so we can see it as a whole. we hope to achieve a plan of action for future pandemics like corona virus so for this plan we need to identify loopholes in our current system for which story like our helps a lot.

How I Developed This Project

our team has non-technical background and we wanted to create a project which shows the overall impact and we can use our imagination and creativity therefore we chose this challenge. our approach while developing this was a neutral aproach so that we can see the good and bad of corona equally and make a non biased story. we used simple tools like google images and a video making app called inshot and a text to audio app called T2S. We also used some apps like a document editor picture editor and some other for secondary and tertiary works. the main problem we faced was audio recording because no one had a proper recording setup therefore we used an AI voice. While making this project we learned the positive side of corona and we also learned how to create visual stories.

How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Before making our story we saw the data and designed our characters accordingly so that we can use the data. The graphs and the statistical data helped us a lot while making the visuals . EO Dashboard was our most reliable source of information when we made our project. We have used the air quality graph and air quality map of india to show the improvement of nature condition during lockdown. The character of Raghav uses the nature data most.

Project Demo

our demo includes a short introduction to our story and characters and it also has recommendations for the EO Dashboard system which can make it more efficient.

Earth Observing Dashboard Integration

we reccomend that EO Dashboard should have more sensors in india so that the tracking can be better in a high population country like india. We also recommend two additional sensors , first one is to detect the population density of a area , this will help us identify places of high concentration so we can predict future hotspots of corona virus. The second sensor we recommend is a movement sensor so we can pin down the location with a lot of public movement and predict the places where virus can expand itself and increase the infected count.
