Urban Societal Behavior Patterns During COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently bringing unprecedented impacts to every aspect of human life. Your challenge is to better understand societal trends in response to COVID-19 through the analysis of remote sensing data and products.

the return after the pandemic

Summary

Our project is intended to help people fight covid-19. After much research and analysis, we saw a common point in all countries: the need for social distance. Therefore, we developed a sensor in the mask capable of identifying when a person exceeds the distance limit. Our aim is to make people in all countries aware of the need to properly do the isolation. As effective as vaccination against the virus in many countries, we cannot forget that such protocols must remain. The project is based on a LED that changes color according to the distance from people. If it's correct, it will turn green. If it's too close, it will turn red. And if it's far away, it will turn blue.

How I Addressed This Challenge

We developed a project based on behavior trends during our country's covid-19 pandemic. The aim is to create a mask capable of alerting the wearer when a person crosses the threshold of social distance.

The project is based on a LED that changes color according to the distance from people. If it's correct, it will turn green. If it's too close, it will turn red. And if it's far away, it will turn blue.

This way, many people can relax when walking down the street and will know exactly when someone is too close and can contract the virus. As effective as vaccination against the virus in many countries, we cannot forget that such protocols must remain, both the use of mask and the correct distance.

How I Developed This Project

Our team was inspired by the context of the world in which we live, in view of the global challenges faced by the pandemic, comparing regions with different cultures and government administrations. To complete the project, we use tinkercard software and C programming language.

How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used the space agency data to compare covid-19 cases to pandemic detriment, and by observing the discrepant differences in cases and numbers of deaths between: Italy, New Zealand, and Brazil, we researched information on how the population of each region dealt with the current issue. As well as, the administration of vaccines in each government, contemplating certain characteristics. Thus, all of this was carried out through the data informed by the space agency

Earth Observing Dashboard Integration

Our solution can be incorporated into the Earth Observing Dashboard because, once our LEDs are being applied to the masks, the government and NASA can have access to information on the performance of social distancing in countries and thus understand the behavior of the population under the rules and mandated protocols.

Data & Resources

We are based on data from countries such as Brazil, Italy and New Zealand. We can see different levels of spread and control of the virus. However, in all these countries we find two points in common: The use of masks and social distance.

We mainly use the data available in the challenge resources. Like the Earth Observing Dashboard who gave us all the information about the covid-19 of the countries we were looking for.
